Stallions give back

The Brimbank Stallions women’s side wanted to give something back to the community, while finding something to do during lockdown.

The team has put together two different initiatives to try and help others in the community.

The club’s technical director, Sebastiano Disco, said the group wanted to do something together.

“We used to get together once a week online to check in on each other,” he said.

“The girls came up with an idea that they wanted to do something together and see what happened.

“There’s now two different actions. One is a GoFundMe page set up to help support Safe Steps, which supports families, women and children affected by family violence.

“One of our players had had a similar experience, in part why we choose that organisation.”

The second part was making themselves available for anyone who was just looking for a chat, to provide support to those in need.

The team, who have also made a video, have set up one on one and group online chats, while setting up fitness activities that females can get involved in.

Mr Disco said there is no commitment for those getting involved to join the club, but he said they would love to see more females get involved in the club.”
