Stakes raised, plots thicken at St Luke’s

Behind St Luke’s Anglican Church at Taylors Lakes, 20 garden beds are already leased out – the only plots remaining are six raised beds, perfect for people with bending issues.

Organiser Jackie Jackson said the community garden, set up with the Lions Club about five years ago, was going “brilliantly”.

“It looks really nice, rather than the weeds that were there before,” she said.

Gardeners primarily grow vegetables, including lettuce, tomatoes and rhubarbs.

“It’s going so well that, if anyone else wants a garden bed [as opposed to a raised bed], they’ll have to go on a waiting list,” Ms Jackson said.

Beds cost $5 a month, with a $40 key deposit. Contact Jackie on 9449 4647.
