Staff to isolate for 14 days

A number of staff at CS Square are now in isolation for 14 days following an update to the Department of Health’s exposure site list.

The shopping centre had already been announced as a tier two site from July 27 to August 5, due to the number of cases linked to the centre.

Anyone who was at the centre on August 6 is now also classified a tier two contact and must get tested and isolate until they receive a negative result.

A number of stores within the centre have also been classified as tier one sites during certain days and times.

Of the new cases announced on Tuesday, four were linked to the centre.

Two had been active in the community while infectious.

On Monday night, the department changed the advice for staff members who worked at the centre between August 2 and August 5.

All staff who worked in the centre during that period must get tested and isolate for 14 days.

A number of new stores and locations within the centre have also been announced as tier one sites.

As of Monday, there were 25 cases linked to the centre.

CS Square management said in a statement that it was working close with the department.

“We are working very closely with the DHHS and at present, the centre is listed as a tier one site but only for its retail staff, from Monday, 2 August – Thursday, 5 August.

“This is the directive, which has been provided by the DHHS and its health professionals.

The centre itself undertook a full scale deep clean by a DHHS approved contractor on Saturday, 7 August, which involved sterilising the public mall space and all customer touch points.

“Because the deep clean took place after the exposure site dates, the centre has been certified to open, allowing our stores the opportunity to trade and maintain their livelihoods.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and follow all advice of the DHHS to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our community.”

There were a number of other exposure sites across Brimbank added to the list on Monday night.

The 426 and 460 bus routes along with the Sunbury train line between Watergardens and Sunshine and Sunshine and St Albans are among the new sites listed.

Bunnings Taylors Lakes, Caroline Springs Childcare and Kindergarten, and the Taylors Lakes Hotel have also been added to the list.
