St Albans’ musical heart

A brightly coloured piano is once again taking centre stage in the heart of St Albans.

Artist Tadros Hanna designed the piano after another of his colourful pianos was destroyed by vandals.

Brimbank council approached Hanna to design a replacement for the piano, which sat at the corner of Main and Alfrieda streets in St Albans.

Council offered to fund the replacement but Hanna insisted on paying for the paints and supplies.

“I hope everyone will enjoy [the piano] as I have sent this from my heart to every other heart in the community,” Hanna said.

“The message here for the community is to be kind and have hope, there’s so many things happening in the world around us that are so upsetting but to bring art here is a way to bring the community together, to send a message of peace and love.:

Hanna’s original piano was featured in the Melbourne Arts Centre’s ‘I’m Yours’ exhibition, before being moved to St Albans for the community to enjoy.
