A 34-year-old St Albans man remains under police guard in hospital following a dramatic arrest near the MCG yesterday.
Police received reports of an erratic driver in the Melbourne CBD about 4.10pm.
Police observed the vehicle a short time later at the intersection of Wellington Parade and Powlett Street where it was successfully intercepted.
At least 15 police vehicles swarmed the scene and armed members arrested the man without incident.
The man is yet to be interviewed.
