St Albans man dead after being struck by a car

A 33-year-old St Albans man died while crossing the road in St Albans on Wednesday night.

The pedestrian was crossing Main Road West about 9pm at a set of traffic lights when he was struck by a car.

An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said paramedics attempted to revive the 33-year-old for about 20 minutes but he “unfortunately died at the scene”.

Police don’t believe the driver ran a red light.

The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Altona Meadows man, was not injured and is assisting police with their inquiries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
