Firefighters responded to reports of a house on fire in St Albans about 2.30am on January 30.
Crews arrived on scene within four minutes to find smoke and flames issuing from the front two rooms and roof space of a single-storey brick residence, so the response was escalated.
Crews donned breathing apparatus, entered the property and began an internal attack on the fire as well as protecting the adjoining properties.
Two adults were evacuated safely, however they will be treated by Ambulance Victoria for mild smoke inhalation.
The fire was deemed under control by 3.25am.
The cause of the fire is not yet known but it will be investigated by Fire Rescue Victoria specialists.
Firefighters will remain on scene for some time, to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
