St Albans aged care facilty enacts outbreak plan

Brimbank recorded another 45 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

The large jump pushes the total number of active cases within Brimbank to 571, well ahead of Wyndham, which has the second highest number of active cases in the state with 535.

Aged care provider Fronditha Care today released a statement saying it had enacted its outbreak management plan after a staff member at its St Albans site tested positive.

A resident at the facility has also since tested positive and has been transferred to hospital for monitoring.

The company said the staff member last worked on July 20 and was immediately stood down, as were staff who worked with the infected employee.

All residents have been isolated and monitored for symptoms.

A total of 59 residents and 65 staff have since tested negative, with one staff member’s test still pending.

It comes as the outbreak at the Ardeer-based aged care facility Estia Health grew by six on Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases to 88.

The outbreak at Brooklyn-based abattoir JBS grew by five, taking the total number of linked cases to 76.
