The famous Bunnings sausage sizzle lent its support to farmers doing it tough last week.
Bunnings stores across the country last week donated funds raised to Rural Aid’s Buy a Bale campaign, helping farmers affected by the drought.
The Sunshine store held its barbecue last Friday and store manager Adam Sapiano said the day was a success.
“Our team have really enjoyed the opportunity to get behind the barbecue themselves and help raise some much-needed funds,” he said.
“The support from our customers has been fantastic and we really appreciate everyone who came and bought a snag or dropped some gold coins in the tin to help.”
Every cent raised from the nation-wide cook-off went directly to the campaign. The money will go towards livestock feed and household essentials.
Bunnings managing director Michael Schneider said the support had blown the team away.
“The generosity of local communities was extraordinary. Most of our stores had lines of people queuing up for a sausage throughout the day, with many having to make multiple runs to the local butcher to keep up with demand,” he said.
