Six charged over machete attack

A Deer Park man and a teen from Albanvale are among six males arrested after three teenagers were allegedly assaulted with machetes in Werribee last month.

The incident occurred at a park on Rosella Avenue about 6.45pm on October 31.

Police allege the males, armed with poles, knives and machetes, approached a group of males and assaulted them.

During the incident a 17-year-old Hoppers Crossing boy was struck with a machete, causing serious injuries to his lower body.

Two other victims were assaulted after fleeing the scene.

Detectives last week executed nine warrants across Melbourne’s north west and arrested six males.

Two 15-year-old boys from Point Cook and Melton South, and a 14-year-old from Albanvale have been charged with violent disorder, possessing a controlled weapon and committing an indictable offence on bail.

All three have been remanded to appear before a children’s court at a later date.

A 22-year-old man from Deer Park has been charged with violent disorder, possessing a controlled weapon, committing an indictable offence on bail and failing to provide information.

He was remanded to appear before Sunshine Magistrates Court on November 17.

A 21-year-old man from Hoppers Crossing has been charged with violent disorder and was bailed to appear before Sunshine Magistrates Court on June 23, 2021.

A 23-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was released without charge.
