Six cats stolen from Sunshine Mosque

A cat and her five kittens have been taken from Sunshine Mosque.

Treasurer Yusuf Mustafa said the cats were discovered missing earlier this month. The kittens had been sleeping in a cardboard box in the mosque’s courtyard and were regarded as the mosque’s resident felines.

They are owned by one of the mosque’s gardeners, Mustafa Tanis, who is now overseas.

“Whoever sees them, please bring them back to the mosque,” Mr Mustafa said.

“They may have been mistakenly taken, but the owner just wants them back.”

Mr Tanis’s daughter Tez said Brownie had given birth to the kittens on AFL grand final day.

“I was going to name them after some of the Bulldogs players,” the Western Bulldogs member said.

Ms Tanis urged anyone who knows where the cats are to return them to the mosque. “There’s always someone there,” she said.

Thirty cans of cat food were also taken from the courtyard.
