The Sunshine RSL Sub Branch invites the community to attend its Dawn Service on Anzac Day this year to honour those who served for the country.
The Dawn Service will take place at the Sunshine RSL on 99 Dickson Street in Sunshine at 6:45am on Anzac Day, April 26th.
Sunshine RSL sub branch president Garry Collins said it was pleasing to be able to have such an important service back again following heavily restricted services from Covid in the past.
“It’s good to be back to have a Dawn Service without having them canceled or restrictions which has been the case in the last few years,” Collins said.
“We have a Dawn Service to remember all of those that have fallen or departed as they say.
“It’s an honour to put a Dawn Service on to remember all those who have fought in the wars.
“It’s an extremely important day and our services have been growing over the years.
“The younger kids are becoming more involved in it than they were before, I think there is a lot more recognition out there.
Collins said they will be able to bring a sense of normality back to the services this year.
“Now we’re back to pretty well full-capacity and we can put on a full service.”
Collins said education talks in services about the past has and will help the next generation recognise the importance of Anzac Day.
Dawn services will also be held at the Caroline Springs RSL Sub Branch on Lake Street, Caroline Springs at 5:45am on Anzac Day as well as the Keilor Historical Society
The Keilor Historical Society will hold a morning service beginning at 10.30 at the Keilor Village Cenotaph on 704B Old Calder Highway, Keilor.
Badges can be purchased prior to Dawn Services to support the RSL’s and ex-service man and women.
