Second person charged over fatal Kings Park stabbing

A second male has been charged in relation to the fatal stabbing of a Kings Park teenager.

Maaka Hakiwai, 17, was killed and his brother Nate, 18, critically injured after receiving stab wounds following an altercation between the pair and a group of men on Main Road West about 2.30pm on September 28.

A 17-year-old boy from Hillside was charged with one count of murder, armed robbery and intentionally cause serious injury on Sunday night.

A Protective Services Officer at Watergardens train station recognised the teen from an alert that had been sent to all members of Victoria Police.

The PSO alerted other officers and they quickly swung into action and arrested the teen. Nobody was injured during the arrest.

The 17-year-old will appear at a children’s court today.

On October 8, Joshua Horton, 18, of Sydenham, was charged with one count of murder, armed robbery and intentionally cause serious injury.
