Second charged over Keilor shooting

Homicide Squad detectives have charged a second man as part of their investigation into the fatal shooting of crime figure Gavin Preston in Keilor last year.

A 24-year-old Yagoona man was arrested in the Sydney CBD on 10 October last year by detectives from the NSW Police Robbery and Serious Crime Squad.

He was remanded in custody on unrelated NSW matters.

Detectives from the Homicide Squad travelled to NSW and have today charged the man with murder in relation to the fatal shooting.

He appeared at Bathurst Local Court this afternoon where police successfully made an application to extradite him to Victoria.

A 23-year-old Bradbury man was arrested with assistance from NSW Police in NSW on 25 October, 2023 in relation to this matter and subsequently charged with murder.

He was extradited to Victoria and remanded in custody.

Preston, 50, was gunne down in a café in Keilor on 9 September. A second man from South Morang was seriously injured. The pair was sitting outside the Old Calder Highway business about 10.20am when they were both shot.
