Six schools in Brimbank will share in nearly $250,000 to help improve their facilities as part of the state government’s latest round of maintenance funding.

University Park Primary School in Lister Street in St Albans, is set to get the most amount with $95,000 funding allocated.

Other local schools to receive funding are the following are Sunshine Harvester Primary School ($15,000), Cairnlea Park Primary School ($20,000),

Deer Park North Primary School ($20,000), Taylors Lakes Secondary College ($40,000) and Keilor Downs Secondary College ($50,000).

The state government funding is part of its term three planned maintenance program that will see 111 schools share in $11.24 million for maintenance works including painting, resurfacing, landscaping, lighting and fixing roofs and windows and replacing floors.

Sydenham MP Natalie Hutchins said the latest round would assist schools.

“This program is about ensuring that every Victorian school is well maintained and safe to provide the best possible environment for students to learn in,” she said.

The recent funding round comes on top of $4.27 million already provided to 47 schools through the term 2 planned maintenance program and $5.84 million to 57 schools through the term 1 program.

This funding also covers an ongoing program to inspect and repair or replace solar power systems across 737 school campuses.

In the past eight years, the state government has invested $12.8 billion in building new schools and more than 1850 school upgrades.
