Duke Street community centre is running a holiday program for primary school aged children, where kids can give parents and carers a break while learning some fun new skills.

On Wednesday, June 29, the kids at Duke Street community centre had Rose from the Bunnings Warehouse Sunshine in to hold a seedling workshop. Kids learnt how to grow a plant just from a seed, including the whole gestation period, how it grows and where it all comes from.

Duke Street administrator Julie Reid said” “We started the program this year for the older primary school children, to give the parents a bit of a break over the school holidays”.

The program has a number of different activities for the kids with cooking, arts and crafts, movie days and gardening all on the list.

“The older children are loving it, they said it’s our cooking classes that they really enjoy,” Julie said.
