A Sunshine West company has won a massive state government contract providing 878 tonnes of steel for the building of four new primary schools across the state.

Visiting Stilcon Holdings yesterday, Minister for Industry Lily D’Ambrosio said the $5 million will allow the business to create eight new jobs to complement its current 120 member workforce.

Around 878 kg of  structural steel from Stilcon will help build the frames for Mernda, Pakenham South West, Heather Grove and Epping North primary schools, set to open next year.

The state government announced in September last year that 15 new schools worth $291 million would open across the 2017 and 2018 school years.
