Sale trail hits Brimbank

By Tate Papworth

The nation’s biggest garage sale is once again heading to Brimbank.

The Garage Sale Trail is a two-day sustainability initiative at schools, businesses, community groups and homes. This year the event will be held across the weekend of October 19 and 20.

It’s the third year Brimbank has taken part in the event and mayor Lucinda Congreve urged everyone to get involved.

“Anyone can take part. Households, schools, community groups, businesses, even whole streets can get behind the big weekend, and have fun while fundraising.

“Clothing, household items, books, furniture, crafts and plants are just some of things you might find as you visit the garage sales. You’ll bag a bargain but you will also be contributing positively to a great cause.

“It’s a great way to reduce waste and raise awareness around the impact that everything we buy has on the environment.”

Nearly 400,000 Australians will shop and sell at more than 18,000 garage sale events Australia-wide.

This year, Mother of God Primary School in Ardeer has joined the trail in what promises to be a whole school event.
