Tin rattlers for the Sunshine Returned and Services League are out and about this week, calling on people to give generously to this year’s Anzac appeal.

Sunshine president Garry Collins says 2016 marks the RSL’s centenary, making the appeal more significant than ever.

“Our volunteers, many of them veterans, are ready to offer a variety of Anzac appeal badges,” he says. “The high level of energy and commitment shown by our Sunshine volunteers as they raise the much-needed funds is truly humbling.

“Each and every volunteer is determined to get to the community and not only sell badges but share their stories and experiences.”

Mr Collins thanked locals for their ongoing support of veterans and their appeal.

Victorian appeals manager Peter Smith says the funds enable the RSL to help men and women who have served the country and now need support.

“The ways in which we provide that support vary from case to case, but it can include such things as provision of mobility services, assistance with medical and other household expenses, education and employment assistance, and even food vouchers,” Mr Smith said.
