The Sunshine RSL needs volunteers to help with this year’s Anzac Appeal.

Sunshine RSL president Gary Collins said volunteer numbers have dwindled in recent years and more hands were needed.

“Our numbers have fallen away and we haven’t really had volunteers come forward that much,” he said.

“In previous years we’ve raised $10,000-$12,000, which we’d like to do again.”

Mr Collins said volunteer numbers have dictated where badges will be sold.

“We’ll focus on Bunnings, the Marketplace and Brimbank Central,” he said.

“We’re letting a lot of areas go because we can’t man them, so the more volunteers we can get, the better.”

The RSL is calling on anyone who can spare a minimum of a half day to sell badges.

“We need volunteers mainly to man tables at shops and, given our numbers, we’d ideally like a minimum of half day commitment,” said Mr Collins.

He said calls for more support online had not yielded the results the RSL had hoped for.

“We put a few posts up online through channels like Facebook, but we’ve only had about three or four people put their hand up.

“That’s three more than last year, which is great, but we’d ideally like a few more.”

The appeal will run from Monday, April 8 to Wednesday, April 24.
