Protective Service Officers have arrested a man after a failed robbery in Sunshine last night.

Police said a 28-year-old Sunshine North man was walking along Harvester Road about 11.40pm when he was approached by a man who made demands for his mobile phone.

When the victim refused, he was punched in the back of the head.

A passerby witnessed the incident and drove his car towards the men and the offender fled on foot.

The driver then took the victim to a nearby railway station where PSOs assisted him.

While talking to PSOs, the victim spotted the alleged offender. The PSOs took chase.

A 21-year-old man of no fixed address was apprehended and arrested.

He has been charged with attempted robbery, intentional cause injury and unlawful assault and has been remanded to appear at Sunshine Magistrates Court today.
