A new recruitment drive has been launched to find people to join Victoria’s child protection workforce to help keep children safe and families strong.

The Go Where You’re Needed campaign aims to recruit more than 280 new child protection practitioners across metropolitan and regional Victoria.

The campaign showcases the benefits of a career in child protection, which provides many opportunities to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.

Brimbank and Melton has been identified as a priority area to secure more child protection workers.

Brimbank Child Protection Practitioner Madelaine Logie, who has worked at the Department of Families Fairness and Housing for five years, said there were plenty of opportunities for people to help others.

“I’ve always been passionate about helping others,” she said. “I felt this was a good fit for me working with this community.

“Every day is different which is why I love my job so much.. We visit families and young people. We do case work and visit schools and work with different services in the community.

“We sometimes attend court and it’s fast paced.

“I would really encourage anyone to apply for it if they are passionate about it.”
