Little libraries are popping up throughout Brimbank opening up new opportunities to find a new book.

The street libraries are small, waterproof bookshelves on legs which will house books that residents can take and read. There will be books for people of all ages.

The small libraries will be supplied with books from the actual Brimbank libraries.

People can also put books in the library for others to take and read. Library staff will check the libraries for stock each week.

The libraries are in Buckingham Crescent in Sunshine West, Balmoral Park in Derrimut, Kevin Flint Reserve in Cairnlea and Norm Talintyre Reserve in Sunshine.

All are located at parks and reserves.

The libraries have come about after the residents approached Brimbank council to have them installed.

The project will be reviewed after 12 months with consideration to additional street libraries being installed in the demand is needed.
