An expo next week is aimed at forging better connections between the Polynesian community in the western suburbs and community services.
Organiser Manu Tilialo-Ngan Woo said the expo was the product of months of workshops and preparation.
“The idea of this expo is to provide an opportunity for government services, community groups and organisations to be able to bridge that gap between them and the Pacific community in Melbourne,” she said.
The expo, at Sunshine Polish Charity Association in Ardeer, will feature stalls from service providers such as the Department of Human Services, Brimbank council, Jesuit social services, IPC Health, BaptistCare, immigration support and Noah’s Ark Australia, while local Polynesian businesses and food stalls will also be on hand.
“It’s all about those groups showing the services they can offer,” Ms Tilialo-Ngan Woo said. “They can also learn about the needs of our community and how to improve their services. It will be great for local Polynesian people to have access to those services in one place, for themselves and their families, and then also for the wider community to have that access.”
The event will run from 9.30am-2.30 pm on Thursday, June, 8 at 6 Helene Street, Ardeer.
