Police unite stolen lorikeet with Sunshine owner

Heaven with Detective Senior Constable Matt Pesci

A stolen lorikeet has been reunited with its Sunshine owner after it was found in Collingwood nearly a month after it was stolen.

The parrot was stolen during a burglary at Ridley Street house on August 19, police say.

A 39-year-old Sunshine man was arrested on September 11 and appeared in the Sunshine Magistrates Court on Tuesday on burglary and theft charges.

“Heaven” was eventually found in Collingwood by Brimbank Detective Senior Constable Matt Pesci on the same day.

Victoria Police later joked on Twitter that “we asked Heaven for a statement but she wouldn’t squawk”.
