Police are investigating an armed robbery in Hillside last month.

It is understood two men arrived at a service station on Melton Highway in a blue BMW 3 series sedan about 2.15am on February 4.

They got out of the vehicle, with the registration plate WHT842, and filled several jerry cans with petrol.

Police were told one of the men entered the store, produced what is believed to be an imitation firearm, then demanded cash and cigarettes.

The man stole cigarettes then the two men fled the scene in the vehicle.

There were no injuries.

Police released CCTV of two men they believe can assist with their enquiries.

Police have since identified one of the men and he was not involved.

The vehicle is also believed to be linked to two other incidents at another service station on Melton Highway in Taylors Lakes where fuel was stolen on February 3 and 4.

On these occasions the vehicle was displaying registration plates Q88844 to the rear of the vehicle and the front registration had been changed to V53961.
