Police are investigating after a car struck a pedestrian in Brooklyn last week.

The incident occurred on Cypress Avenue when a 12-year-old girl was struck by a car as she crossed the road about 1.30pm on October 19.

The girl told police that a car came around the corner from a street, with the male driver yelling out to her to get off the road.

The car, a dark-coloured Toyota sedan, struck the girl, knocking her to the ground.

The driver stopped and got out of his vehicle, approaching the victim. After a short conversation with her he got back in his car and drove away.

The girl suffered bruising and minor lacerations in the incident.

Investigators are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision, including a man who was walking his dog and assisted the victim.
