A Taylors Lakes man is among two people who are set to be charged after being caught travelling nearly triple the speed limit in West Melbourne.
Police first spotted the learner riders inbound on Footscray Road, where they were detected on laser travelling 116km/h in a 40km/h zone about 8pm on September 17.
Police pulled over two men, a 21-year-old from Taylors Lakes and a 19-year-old from Camberwell. The men told police they had only obtained their learner permits last month.
Both bikes were impounded by police for 30 days at a cost of $896.10 each.
It is expected the pair will each be charged on summons with speed dangerous and exceeding the speed limit.
