Homicide Squad detectives will tomorrow night set up an information caravan in the street where an elderly woman was fatally assaulted in St Albans.

A 77-year-old woman was found in a Willaton Street driveway about 7pm on Thursday, February 1.

She died in hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

A 30-year old St Albans woman was arrested last Friday and has been charged with intentionally causing serious injury,

The charge will be reviewed by the Homicide Squad at a later date. The woman is currently remanded to appear again at Melbourne Magistrate’s Court on May 28.

Investigators are still searching for the man who initially found the victim – he left the scene before speaking to police.

The man is perceived to be of Middle Eastern appearance, about 170-175 centimetres tall, aged in his late 40s to early 50s with a medium build and short dark hair.

The caravan will be located on Willaton Street, St Albans from 5.30pm on Thursday, February 8.

Anyone with information about the man or the incident is encouraged to attend the information caravan or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
