Police are investigating an alleged carjacking and subsequent theft in Sunshine earlier this month.

Images and CCTV footage of a man, who police are looking to speak to, was released on Tuesday.

The investigation follows an alleged carjacking at a carpark on Dawson Street, Sunshine on November 14, about 5:40pm.

It’s believed an unknown man got into the driver’s seat of a vehicle whilst the victim was resting in the passenger seat, produced a knife and made demands for the victim’s vehicle.

The man left in the stolen car, a 2012 silver Nissan Tiida bearing the registration 1KT9JV.

The vehicle was then involved in a petrol drive off about 6.20pm on Ballarat Road in Sunshine North.

The car was then allegedly used during a theft from a petrol station and the vehicle was then allegedly involved in a hit and run incident with a cyclist in Keysborough.

The next morning, the vehicle crashed into a tree on a nature strip in Doverton. The man drove off, with the car later found abandoned in Hallam.
