Brimbank police are investigating an assault in Sunshine last month that has left a man with serious head injuries.

Detectives have been told two men of no fixed address were approached by an unknown man in the stairwell of a carpark on George Street on December 15 about 3am.

The male sat with the men for a number of hours but became angry when he was asked to leave so the two men could sleep.

The offender locked one of the men outside then stomped on the other man’s head a number of times while he lay on the ground.

The offender left the scene on foot and headed toward Kennedy Street while the man that was locked outside called triple-0.

It’s believed the victim, a 34-year-old man, had his phone and wallet stolen during the assault.

The offender is perceived to be of African or Islander appearance, believed to be aged between 20 and 40-years-old, wearing a black hooded jumper, light pants, black shoes and a black backpack.

Investigators have released CCTV and an image of a man they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.
