Plaza cooks up foodie fantasia

Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre hopes to become the fresh food hub of Brimbank under a bold new plan.

Centre management is planning to undertake a complete revamp of the centre this year.

Centre manager Ian Simpson said he wanted the plaza to play a big role in Sunshine’s rejuvenation.

“Sunshine Plaza Shopping Centre is an important and visible part of the Sunshine community and we believe we have a responsibility within the Sunshine community to do our part to help in the growth of our suburb,” he said.

Mr Simpson said centre management is running with the fresh food concept based on the success of current businesses and the fact it would provide the plaza a point of difference to Sunshine Marketplace, located directly across the road.

He said he was very keen for the community to have strong input into the centre’s transformation. Members of the public are being asked to contribute “impactful things Sunshine Plaza can do to improve the local area”.

“We are confident that there are exceptional entrepreneurs and business owners who see an opportunity to change the face of Sunshine, and we want to speak to everyone who wants to play a part in the growth,” Mr Simpson said.

Centre management will open its doors to the public between 11am-2pm daily to hear suggestions.

While a fresh food precinct is the initial plan, centre management envisages adding other precincts as the area and centre expands.

Centre management has expanded its team recently, as well as adding consultants, to aid its commitment to the centre and the local area.

Submissions and open office hours will close on February 15.
