Person dies in collision on the Western Ring Road

A person has died following a fatal collision at Keilor Park on Thursday morning on the Western Ring Road.

Emergency services responded after two vehicles collided and caught fire on the Western Ring Road near the Calder Freeway exit about 11.20am.

The sole occupant of the van, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

The driver of the truck escaped from his cabin and was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The circumstances of the collision are under investigation.

The Ring Road outbound is currently closed with detours in place.
