P-plater avoids head-on crash with police

A 53-year-old Braybrook P-plater was arrested and his car was impounded overnight after allegedly driving on the wrong side of the freeway.

Police said that a dog squad vehicle swerved to avoid a car that was being driven on the wrong side of the Western Freeway at Rockbank just before 12.30am.

Another police unit spotted the same vehicle on the wrong side of Hopkins Road a short time later.

Police allege that the vehicle continued on the wrong side of Hopkins Road causing multiple vehicles to swerve to avoid a collision.

The driver was eventually pulled over and arrested.

He has been released pending summons and is expected to be charged with conduct endangering life and other traffic related offences.
