The contemporary learning spaces created for Overnewton Anglican Community College’s year 5 to 8 students was on show last week as the school hosted the official opening of its new middle school in Keilor.

Deputy principal and head of the new campus, Rob Huntington, said the school was proud to be able to offer Overnewton students contemporary learning spaces that had been purposefully designed to support the philosophy of middle years schooling.

“One of the College’s important educational goals for middle years learners is connection with the environment and this is strongly supported by functional outdoor spaces that provide students with unique learning experiences,” he said.

The campus includes the year 6 and 7 learning centre which won the 2022 Learning Environments Australasia Awards’s “Excellence in Educational Facility Design” award, in June.

Sydenham MP Natalie Hutchins , Niddrie MP Ben Carroll, and Brimbank councillors Jae Papalia and Virginia Tachos were among the guests at the official opening of Overnewton’s middle school, or Yirramboi Campus, at 2-50 Overnewton Road, Keilor, last Thursday 27 October.

A dual campus, coeducational Prep to Year 12 school, Overnewton Anglican Community College also has its Canowindra Campus, at 39 – 57 Robertsons Road, Taylors Lakes.
