Free wi-fi, an outdoor performance stage and more toilets in local parks are being considered by Brimbank council.
Resident feedback to the council’s latest parks strategy also calls for more exercise equipment, an in-ground trampoline and street art at local skate facilities.
The council says there have also been “numerous requests” for more skate facilities, with one proposed for Alice’s Playspace at Errington Reserve in St Albans.
There were calls for play equipment upgrades at both Suffolk Road Reserve, Sunshine North, and Euroa Court Reserve in Taylors Lakes.
And a plea for carparking at Delahey Recreation Reserve and more permanent shelters for parents who watch their children play sport.
While there has been an overwhelmingly positive response to where Brimbank’s parks are heading – 85 per cent of respondents to a council survey believe the experience of visiting local parks has improved – some parks were still thought to be lacking basic infrastructure such as toilets.
“Careful consideration of extra toilets is required at some suburban parks,” the council says.
Star Weekly revealed in June last year that the council was also considering introducing cafe facilities as a way of improving the park experience for residents.
