Brimbank residents were out of lockdown and straight into the shops and cafes last week.
Sunshine’s town centre was abuzz with shoppers and diners for the first time in months as retail and hospitality reopened much to the delight of businesses.
Council chief executive Helen Morrissey said the end of lockdown was welcomed by all.
“It’s been a long and difficult journey for Brimbank as well as other areas, and we are very glad to see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Ms Morrissey said.
There are now no more restrictions on reasons to leave home. Cafes, restaurants and pubs can open, and remaining retail can also reopen.
Beauty and personal care services can also resume, and outdoor contact sport is allowed for people 18 and under and outdoor non-contact sport is allowed for adults and people 18 and under, with certain limitations.
“This easing of restrictions is welcome because it will benefit our community and local businesses who have been severely impacted by the lockdown,” Ms Morrissey said.
