The Orange Door Network’s Brimbank and Melton service is expected to open later this year in Sunshine.

The state government announced last week that a lease had been signed in Sunshine for the primary site for the Brimbank-Melton service.

The Orange Door Network is an Australian-first initiative that brings together workers from specialist family violence, child and family, Aboriginal and men’s services in one location.

The Sunshine site will be supported by access points, outposted services and outreach services to ensure residents across the region have the support they need, close to home.

The local expansion of the Orange Door Network follows a $1.2 million state government investment in crisis accommodation and specialist support for people experiencing family violence and sexual assault in Brimbank and Melton.

The network is already operating in eight different regions across the state.

There have been more than 140,000 referrals, including for 55,000 since the network was first launched in 2018.

Prevention of Family Violence Minister Gabrielle Williams said the network ensures people experiencing family violence can get the co-ordinated support they need.

St Albans MP Natalie Suleyman said: “This Orange Door will make a real difference for women and families in the region – ensuring they can access the family violence and wellbeing support they need, when they need it – close to home”.
