The Australian Red Cross Lifeblood will be bringing a pop-up doner center to Sunshine for the first time from the 4th to 8th of April.
Locals will be able to roll up their sleeves and donate blood across the week to help save lives.
According to Lifeblood one in three Australians will need blood or a blood product in their lifetime, but only one in 30 currently donates.
Lifeblood hopes to see around 160 locals come through the centre.
Lifeblood spokesperson Erin Lagoudakis said the team can’t wait to meet the locals.
“The team are excited to set up in Sunshine and hopefully get to meet future regular blood donors,” Ms Lagoudakis said.
“A blood donation is needed every 18 seconds and we need more donors now than ever before which is why our pop-up donor centre visits have been expanded to include Sunshine.”
The donated blood goes to support cancer patients, those involved in road accidents along with pregnant women, newborn babies and countless others.
The Sunshine pop-up donor centre will be located at the Croatian Catholic Centre, 22 Fitzgerald Road in Sunshine West.
The centre will be open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday April 4 to 6 from midday to 7:30pm.
On Thursday and Friday April 7 to 8 the centre will be open from 8am to 3pm.
