Reclink has fired back up the Zoom and online exercise classes to help people get through lockdown.
Having run daily classes through last year’s lockdowns, the organisation knew exactly where to start when Victoria was locked down for a fourth time late last month.
Reclink’s chief executive Dave Wells said they know that social isolation and lack of physical activity are two of the big concerns during lockdown.
He said getting online and connecting with people helps to address those two areas.
“We started a program called Reclink Connect,” he said.
“We ran sessions every day. We started the day with reflection and then physical exercise activities.
“We also started sports share, which saw us take equipment out to the homes of people who didn’t have equipment and we did a lot of phone calls with the more vulnerable people.”
Mr Wells said the program created a community that helped people feel more connected.
He said that while their programs usually help disadvantaged people, anyone is welcome to jump online and do any of the online classes they have running.
