Nominations are now open for the Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s Good Sports Awards, giving community sporting clubs across Victoria, including those in Brimbank, the chance to shine in the national spotlight and win cash prizes.

The Alcohol and Drug Foundation’s Good Sports program manager, Sallee Cook said the annual Good Sports Awards celebrate the Good Sports clubs and volunteers that are dedicated to making their clubs the very best they can be.

“The Good Sports Awards recognise the community sporting clubs that go above and beyond to make their clubs healthy and inclusive environments,” Ms Cook said.

“The Awards are the ultimate trophy for any Good Sports club. They shine the spotlight on success, celebrate the volunteers who are the backbone of Good Sports clubs and provide winning clubs with the recognition they deserve.”

Good Sports clubs are encouraged to nominate before November 12, for their chance to be crowned a winner at the awards ceremony at Parliament House early next year and win a share of over $13,000 in prize money.

In Victoria, Good Sports is funded by the federal government and managed by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation.

Good Sports clubs can enter multiple categories, which include Club of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Safe Transport Award, Mental Health Excellence Award, Junior Club of the Year, New Club of the Year and Community Club of the Year.

“Whether it’s your club’s champion volunteer, looking after your junior members or supporting club members’ mental health, you know your club’s biggest strengths. We encourage your Good Sports club to nominate today for a chance to win,” Ms Cook added.
