NGV tour headed for Brimbank

The NGV's Kids on tour is headed for Brimbank

A fixture of the summer school holidays is set to make its way to Brimbank.

The National Gallery of Victoria’s Kids on Tour program will include stops in Sunshine, St Albans, Keilor and Deer Park.

The program, which is now in its fifth year, offers free activities and workshops, including paper collage workshops and portrait illustrations. This year is set to be the gallery’s biggest tour yet, with more than 50 venues across the state to take part.

Brimbank mayor Margaret Giudice said the program provides children with an opportunity to develop their artistic abilities.

“Council is delighted to be getting involved with the NGV initiative to make art accessible to children and families in Brimbank,” Cr Giudice said.

“Interactive programs like this are wonderful because they provide opportunities to explore and develop kids creative and artistic abilities while learning and having fun.

“The benefits to our community are many and we look forward to offering this program as part of our suite of school holiday activities.”

National Gallery Victoria director Tony Ellwood echoed Cr Giudice’s sentiments.

“NGV Kids on Tour is an integral part of the gallery’s commitment to making art accessible to children and families across Victoria,” he said.

The tour will run from January 8 to 14. For further information and venue details visit www.ngv.vic.gov.au/x/kids-on-tour
