Brimbank council has endorsed a strategy aimed at helping community volunteers across the municipality.
The Brimbank Volunteer Strategy 2018-2022 was endorsed at the May council meeting, and is designed to guide the council to respond to emerging trends in volunteering, identify future opportunities and put in place relevant systems and processes to respond to community needs.
The strategy will focus on recruiting more volunteers where they are needed, strengthening relationships between the council and volunteers, and recognising outstanding volunteers in the community.
Brimbank mayor Margaret Giudice said the strategy was important to the community and organisations that rely on volunteer helpers.
“We have almost 400 Brimbank volunteers who make a great contribution to our community,” Cr Giudice said.
“We’ve recently developed a new Brimbank Volunteer Strategy which provides council with a guide to ensure our focus is on the right systems and processes to respond to community needs.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our Brimbank volunteers for a job well done.”
