New Victorian sports grants

Sporting grants have been launched to provide $245,000 worth of support.

The state government has announced the launch of 122 grants to assist athletes, teams, coaches, and officials, including those in Brimbank.

In an announcement on May 20, the government said the athlete pathway travel grants program will provide $245,000 worth of support for travel and accommodation costs at regional, state, and national levels.

Community Sport Minister Ros Spence said the program would help break down financial barriers for aspiring athletes.

“Our up-and-coming athletes and future champions are putting in the hard work,” Mr Spence said.

“That’s why we are helping them realise their sporting dreams by removing barriers associated with travel and accommodation costs.”

Grants of up to $6000 are available for state sporting associations, regional academies of sport and state sport and active recreation bodies.

While state sport and recreation clubs can apply for grants of up to $2000.

The grants can also be used for pathway development programs, training for emerging athletes, training camps, competition entry and registration.

Western Victoria Minister Gayle Tierney said the government is proud to support the careers and experience of athletes across the state.

“We’re proud to provide our local rising stars with the opportunity to showcase their talent and launch their careers through more exposure and experience across Victoria,” Ms Tierney said.
