The new seat of Laverton will be contested by 10 candidates.
The seat takes in parts of Brimbank, Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong and was created following the 2020-21 redistribution of state electoral boundaries.
The electorate is made up of 2390 voters from Altona electorate, 20,693 voters from Footscray electorate, two Korororit voters, 6534 voters from St Albans voters and 16,786 voters from Tarneit electorate.
The Brimbank suburbs included in the electorate are: Sunshine, Sunshine West, Braybrook, Brooklyn, Albion, Ardeer, and part of Derrimut.
The candidates are: Gurneet Soni (New Democrats), Braishna Durzada (Greens), David Fry (Family First Victoria), Rufo Paredes (independent), Michael Wirth (Labour DLP), Catherine Robertson (Victorian Socialists), Trent Raymond (Freedom Party of Victoria), Pouya Bagheri (Animal Justice Party), Sarah Connolly (Labor, currently Tarneit MP) and Raja Reddy (Liberal).
Victorian Electoral Commission analysis of the electorate predicts Labor will secure 73.4 per cent of the two-party-preferred vote, with the Liberals tipped to secure 26.6 per cent.
