The first sod was turned on the extension to the Alexandra Avenue kindergarten in Sunshine last week.
The $1.49 million extension will add two new rooms to the early childhood precinct, and is being jointly funded by Brimbank City Council ($940,080) and the Victorian government ($500,000).
Brimbank mayor Lucinda Congreve and St Albans MP Natalie Suleyman visited the site last week for a ceremonial sod turn and to inspect the progress of the project.
“We’re very happy to be able to partner with the Victorian government to deliver this project to the community,” Cr Congreve said
“Brimbank council is committed to early years’ education and to providing quality service infrastructure for the community.
“These new kindergarten rooms will provide more places to meet growing demand in the area, and add to the existing services and programs already available at the Alexandra Avenue Children’s Centre,” she said.
The rooms will allow for more than 60 kindergarten students, and is expected to be completed later this year.
