Melbourne Airport is improving its road access with a new $70 million elevated road connecting the Tullamarine Freeway directly to the Terminal 4 Transport Hub.
The road known as Naarm way, opens on July 18, and provides a new dedicated exit which eliminates all intersections between the freeway and Terminal 4.
Melbourne Airport chief of ground Transport Jai McDermott said the airport is making significant investments in infrastructure to improve the traveller experience.
“We are focused on becoming Australia’s favourite airport destination and our road network is a key part of that,” he said.
“We’re making it easier for drivers to access Terminal 4 by removing the need for cars to navigate roundabouts and traffic lights on their way in.”
Naarm Way is the first stage of Melbourne Airport’s elevated road system.
Early works have commenced on stage two, which will deliver a new road connecting motorists from Naarm Way to the T123 carpark and a new dedicated pick-up and drop-off zone on levels two and three of the car park structure.
Stage two is designed to improve the flow of traffic during peak periods and is expected to be complete in 2026.
