Train station car parks in Melbourne’s western suburbs have received a major upgrade, including in Caroline Springs where 400 spaces have opened.

The newly opened spaces more than doubles the car park capacity for residents wanting to utilise public transport.

“More than doubling the parking capacity at Caroline Springs Station is an excellent result for our community, easing parking issues and improving transport connections in the west,” Kororoit MP Luba Grigorovitch said.

New bicycle parking facilities, improved lighting and CCTV will also be delivered as part of the project, with additional landscaping also being provided.

The works are part of the state government’s Car Park for Commuters program, delivering new and upgraded car parks across the state.

“Not only have we delivered more than 1,200 new and upgraded spaces across three stations in the west, but we’ve also made it easier and safer to catch the train,” Public Transport minister Ben Carroll said.

At Wyndham Vale Station, 380 new and upgraded spaces will be fully ready to use in January.
