The Caroline Springs Lions Club has been given a last-minute reprieve after almost folding due to dwindling membership.
The club, which has been operating in Caroline Springs since 2007, last week voted in a new president and secretary, after attracting a number of new members in recent weeks.
It nearly folded in the past month as many established members moved interstate or took time away through illness.
Les Tarczon has been elected president, while Jeff O’Donnell will serve as secretary.
Mr Tarczon said it was an exciting time for the club, with several interesting projects on the horizon.
“Now as a club, we at Caroline Springs are truly focused and motivated on moving forward to establish programs that support our local community,” he said.
“We have a great, broad group of dedicated community people that have become members.
“Some of the ideas of projects we are considering undertaking as a club include autism awareness, men’s health, road safety – just to name a few.
“We are always willing to hear ideas for projects or needs that the club can address within our community.”
The club has been responsible for funding a number of playgrounds in the Caroline Springs area, as well as redeveloping the Millennium Gardens on Caroline Springs Boulevard by installing a pergola, a barbecue and seating.
