New chief for Western Health

Western Health has a new chief executive.

Russell Harrison was appointed to the position earlier this month after five years with the organisation.

During his time with Western Health, Mr Harrison has served in multiple roles including executive director operations and as acting chief executive.

Board chair Bronwyn Pike welcomed the appointment and said Mr Harrison’s local knowledge and proven leadership made him the ideal choice.

“During his time with us, Russell has provided exceptional leadership … and implemented some of the most significant changes to occur in Western Health. As a resident of the west, Russell is acutely aware of the many barriers and healthcare challenges facing our culturally diverse and socio-economically disadvantaged communities and he is dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes. ”

Mr Harrison replaces associate professor Alex Cockram, who stood down from the position in August after five years.
